A smarter classroom with AI tutor assistants

Challenge

Today’s educators face more than just packed syllabi. They manage hybrid classrooms, support students with varied learning needs and continuously update content to keep pace with industry. On top of teaching, they’re expected to coach, assess and guide with empathy and agility. For one institution, the question was simple: How can AI support our lecturers, not replace them?

Solution

In partnership with a local polytechnic, we co-developed an AI Tutor Assistant to support a cohort of 60 students in a pilot programme. Far from being a robotic replacement for educators, the assistant works quietly behind the scenes, trained on the course’s content to become a smart, context-aware learning companion.

Students can ask questions and get immediate answers, test their understanding or receive tailored quizzes. It can assist group work and deepen learning by suggesting critical thinking prompts. For faculty, the assistant provides real-time insights on classroom participation and individual learning progress, empowering lecturers to adapt on the fly, spot disengagement early and personalise instruction.

Due to rapid shifts in job roles and skill requirements, navigating workforce development and job placement has been increasingly complex. To address the growing need for personalised support, NCS developed an AI-assisted Career Counselling Tool (CCT) that provides personalised career guidance and optimises job searches, empowering both workers and employers to adapt to a dynamic job market.
