When Amirul joined NCS as an intern in 2023, he was supporting network and infrastructure operations. Working closely with engineers, he saw firsthand the time and effort spent navigating repetitive processes and diagnosing issues across multiple systems.
Curious about how AI could make these tasks easier, he began exploring ways to apply the technology to real operational challenges. Today, as an AI Platform Engineer in the AI Ops & Digital Platforms team, he develops generative and agentic AI solutions that help automate IT operations and improve engineering workflows.
From solving problems to reimagining how they're solved
Early in his career, Amirul handled infrastructure health checks, system monitoring, and operational support, gaining firsthand insight into the daily friction engineers face.
As generative AI emerged, he saw a turning point—moving beyond resolving issues to preventing bottlenecks and reducing manual effort. Backed by mentorship, technical training, and NCS Fusion Programme, he turned that idea into action. A standout milestone is his agentic AI solution for IT incident diagnosis, which consolidates historical logs, recent system changes, and real-time monitoring into a single interface so teams can troubleshoot faster.
“I’m proud that the solution addresses a real operational challenge rather than using AI for the sake of it,” he shares. “The goal was to help engineers spend less time searching for information and more time solving problems.”
For Amirul, the real reward was seeing technology deliver tangible, everyday value to the people using it.
Learning with intent & proving it in action
For Amirul, growth has never come from staying within his comfort zone.

He believes the best way to learn is by experimenting and embracing uncertainty—a mindset proven when he won a hackathon during the Amazon Web Services (AWS) technical bootcamp in July 2026.
His approach to growth is captured in a simple motto: “You won’t know until you try.”
This philosophy aligns directly with his favourite NCS value, Adventure. “I bring Adventure into my work by staying curious, experimenting with new technologies, and being willing to take on challenges even when I don’t have all the answers from the start,” he says.
When asked what advice he would share with others building a meaningful career, Amirul emphasises open-mindedness: “Some of the most rewarding opportunities I’ve had at NCS started with stepping into something unfamiliar and learning along the way. You don’t need to know everything from day one, but you should always be willing to learn.”
Finding inspiration beyond work
Outside of work, that same curiosity fuels his love for travel. A long-time fan of Korean culture, Amirul celebrated joining NCS full-time with a two-week solo trip across South Korea.
Whether exploring new cities or unwinding by the coast listening to the ocean waves, taking time to slow down gives him fresh perspective. Much like setting off on a solo journey, his career has been shaped by a willingness to take the first step into unfamiliar territory. From learning the fundamentals of operations to building AI-powered solutions, each new challenge has reinforced his belief that growth begins with curiosity.
