Cloudera Engineer 

As a Cloudera Engineer, you will play a key role in deploying and managing Cloudera Private Cloud (CDP) clusters, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability. You’ll join a team that manages cluster services such as HDFS, YARN, Spark, Hive, Impala, Kafka, and more. Your up-to-date technical expertise and hands-on knowledge of Cloudera technologies will help us maintain and enhance our data platforms. Staying current with technology standards, industry trends, and best practices in data engineering is expected.

What will you do?

  • Install, configure, and maintain Cloudera Private Cloud (CDP) clusters
  • Manage cluster services (HDFS, YARN, Spark, Hive, Impala, Kafka, etc.)
  • Monitor cluster health, performance, and capacity planning
  • Configure and manage Kerberos, LDAP/Active Directory integration, and TLS/SSL encryption
  • Implement Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) for users and services
  • Ensure compliance with security best practices and audit logging
  • Optimize cluster performance by tuning configurations (YARN, HDFS, Spark)
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to storage, compute, and networking
  • Analyze logs and metrics using Cloudera Manager and other monitoring tools
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain Spark, Hive, Impala, Nifi, and Kafka applications
  • Write efficient SQL queries and optimize Hive/Impala performance
  • Build data pipelines for batch and real-time processing

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of relevant IT experience
  • Strong experience with Linux commands (ls, grep, awk, sed, chmod, ssh)
  • Managing file permissions, ownership, and shell scripting (Bash)
  • Hands-on experience with Python (for scripting and automation) and SQL (for database queries and management)
  • Knowledge of TLS/SSL, certificates, and data-in-transit encryption
  • Understanding of networking protocols (HTTPS, DNS, NTP) and port management
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP authentication
  • Experience with Ansible/Chef/Puppet for infrastructure automation
  • Knowledge of GitLab/Bamboo for DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Clear and effective communication skills (written and spoken) with customers and stakeholders
  • Approachable and collaborative attitude towards team members
  • Adaptable to change
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional team and as an individual contributor
  • Good to have: Experience building cloud-native applications (e.g., Python, Node.js), in-depth knowledge of cloud networking, and technical qualifications related to Cloud (AWS/Azure)
  • Diploma / Degree in Computer Science, Computer or Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related disciplines
